The Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, started in 1979, is a non-profit membership and postgraduate education organisation, which trains doctors and other health professionals in the principles and practice of nutritional and natural medicine. ACNEM stands for a wellness model of healthcare in mainstream medicine; true healthcare and preventative medicine. Also, working to protect and promote the availability of safe natural medicines, advocating their use as a first option wherever possible. Any doctor may join ACNEM and use MACNEM after their name. FACNEM indicates they have completed the ACNEM Fellowship Program. Health professionals other than doctors may join ACNEM as associates and use AACNEM.
